5 September 2010 SeptemberMarina is currently in Boca Raton Florida. She has been taking a couple of weeks off tennis due to a hand injury she received at the start of July. “ It is not very bad and I have been able to play with it for the last month or so. However the constant pressure of the racquet has not given the joint the chance to heal properly, so hopefully this break will do the job.” Marina was scheduled to play doubles at the US Open, but has given it a miss that to have a good recovery from this injury and to work on her physical fitness. She has started playing tennis this Wednesday and everything is looking good. A WTA event in Quebec City will be her next event starting on the 13th of September, followed by an ITF tournament and the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi starting in early October. “ I am very excited about the Commonwealth Games. It will be great to be in a team again representing New Zealand. The Olympics was a great time for me so hopefully I will see a lot of familiar faces and enjoy this event as much as the Beijing Olympics.” Picture: Marina with Coach Christian Zahalka |
