Marina on her way to the semi-finals

Marina came through a rocky spell to beat Czech Republic's Barbora Zahlavova Strycova today in the quarters of the WTA tournament in Budapest, Hungary.

As the opening set went on Marina dominated with her whipping forehand while Zahlavova Strycova started to get frustrated with herself. Marina wrapped up the first set in 33 minutes and the match was looking all too easy at that point.

It set the tone for what was a complete reversal of form, as Zahlavova Strycova went on to dominate plat and send the match into a deciding set.

The New Zealand No 1 got the break in the fourth game.

In tonight's (NZT) semifinal Marina will play Russia's Elena Vesnina for the chance to play in her second WTA final of the year.
