Marina finally gets callup to the Olympics

Marina is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. It was announced yesterday that the New Zealand Olympic Commitee have agreed to send the world No 45 to the London Olympics.

Her clothing sponsor, Fila, have even designed a special outfit for her to wear. The outfit was designed three or four months ago. It is black and white and has a little New Zealand flag on the back, Marina thinks it is pretty cool!. Even the shoes are black and white.

At Eastbourne she lost to Tamira Paszek from Austria 7-5 6-1. While this was not the result she was looking for, she admitted the Olympic selection was preying on her mind.

"It's not nice, but at the end of the day it's only things that I create in my head. It's something I don't have any control over and I try to do the best I can out there'.

"Obvioulsy I love playing on grass and I can play well on it, but it's sort of like a weight has been lifted. I feel lighter, if you can put it in those words".

The Olympics will be played at Wimbeldon and Marina will be taking her chances match by match.
