Marina's off to a winning start at Wimbledon

Marina is through to the second round of Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old yesterday battled back after having her serve broken early in both sets to beat Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-4 6-4 in little more than 90 minutes at London's famed tennis venue.

It was a classic grasscourt win for Marina, she served well, her net play was solid, and she won almost half of the points on Radwanska's serve.

A handful of vocal Kiwi's celebrated Marina's victory with a brief haka.

"It was nice to see the haka," she said. "There were quite a few Kiwi supporters which makes me feel very good."

Marina will face 21st seed Roberta Vinci from Italy in the second round on Friday (NZT).
